You have to do! Only when you're doing something do things begin to happen. That’s the way with most things.
You get out of bed. You brush your teeth. You work out. You make five phone calls.
If you want to make something happen, set a simple goal and outline the steps. For example, the above steps are the solution to learning nearly anything, especially how to do something. With every business idea I’ve had, I’ve made calls around to attorneys, vendors, suppliers, experts, etc. to get the information I need. But first, I get up, follow my routine, and then hop on the phone to get the information I need. I do some research too. Either way, it took action for me to make progress.
If you want to establish a business entity, start doing something about it. Start working on it. An idea doesn’t come into fruition without action. Put some research into it and at some point you'll have all the details you need to make a fairly informed decision.
Every decision I've made in business has come with a lot of thought and research behind it, or action. But, it doesn't have to take long. I don’t have to stress over what I should do or how I’ll do it, I just need to start doing something about it. Once you start working on a big goal, the smaller goals come into light and become much more manageable. It’s when you wait that goals loom and never get achieved.
With my decisions, I begin by taking emotion out of it. I just sit down and write the pro's and con's. I outline the details, explanations and definitions. Eventually, I’m done. Those facts and questions are finally down on paper and easier to understand. It usually takes me less than 30 minutes to make any major decision that can be based upon facts. The unknowns can take longer, but I usually only spend a few minutes writing the details of a major decision, then with the unknowns, I sleep on it for a day and go with my gut. That's really the best any of us can do.
Your personal life begins with action too. If you go on a walk with your kids, you'll get to know your kids better. If you want to eat healthier, you have to buy healthy foods and learn how to make healthy recipes.
This idea that your life begins with action has gotten me to many new levels of life. It hasn’t always been easy, but by getting up and crossing of my to-do’s, I’ve made a difference.
If you want to make progress in any facet of your life, you have to take the steps to make it happen. If there’s a life you want, it begins with action. Don’t wait around for change, but be the change. If you don’t know what to do, but have an idea, get in touch with a mentor who can guide you in the right direction. There is always something you can do.
